L.A. GUNS

Following over a decade apart, Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis reunited under the L.A. Guns’ banner and in October 2017 released one of the most praised albums in their catalogue with ‘The Missing Peace’ :

“A pretty fucking glorious throwback, with all the bombastic screamalong choruses and dive-bombing flash-guitar heroism you can handle. It’s a ripper”  CLASSIC ROCK

Landing on many international charts, the band’s fans evidently agreed with the critical consensus. A well received European tour that also displayed their rediscovered energy and enthusiasm resulted in the recent live album ‘Made In Milan’. The band return to the UK this week for eight dates:

  • 31.08.18  LONDON O2 Islington Academy
  • 01.09.18  SHEFFIELD O2 Academy / HRH Sleaze Festival
  • 02.09.18  NEWCASTLE Riverside
  • 04.09.18  BILSTON Robin 2
  • 05.09.18  MILTON KEYNES Craufurd Arms
  • 06.09.18  MANCHESTER Rebellion
  • 08.09.18  BUCKLEY Tivoli
  • 16.09.18  HULL Welly Club / Hair Metal Heaven Festival

Special guests Jared James Nichols and Stone Trigger will also perform at the non-festival shows.

SHIRAZ LANE

Shiraz Lane released their second album, ‘Carnival Days’, in the early spring of 2018, although the promotion of it began in October 2017 with its first single (‘Harder To Breathe’) and an extensive tour with Brother Firetribe. Watch the video for their current single ‘The Crown’

“The five-piece from Finland now have the walk to match the talk. 8/10”  CLASSIC ROCK

The band personifies creative variety, which resonates through their double-edged guitar sound (provided by lead guitarist Jani Laine and rhythm guitarist Miki Kalske), groovy-yet-solid ground pounding (Ana Willman on drums and bassist Joel Alex) and unmistakable high-soaring melodies of singer Hannes Kett. Despite their relative youth, they are already veterans of the Finnish tour circuit and have earned a reputation for being loud, uncompromising and (most of all) the genuine article.

Although inspired by predecessors in their genre such as Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses, their sound is developing into something unique, while peers such as Halestorm, The 69 Eyes, Amorphis,  Children Of Bodom, Lordi and more have all praised the band’s stage prowess. Their debut album, ‘For Crying Out Loud’ was released in the spring of 2016 and was a success story from the very beginning in many European territories. The young rockers spent that summer playing festivals before packing their gear for a two month European tour with Lordi. Aside from the recording of ‘Carnival Days’, they have barely been off the road ever since. The quintet will complete 2018 with a month long mainland European tour alongside H.E.A.T. and Frontiers labelmates One Desire.

They will also play four UK shows this week at:

  • 30.08.18  CARDIFF Fuel Rock Club
  • 31.08.18  STAFFORD Redrum
  • 01.09.18  LONDON O2 Islington Bar Academy
  • 02.09.18  SHEFFIELD O2 Academy / HRH Sleaze Festival

Go and have a bit of fun with some Finns….

JETBOY

Founded in 1983 by guitarists Billy Rowe and Fernie Rod, Jetboy continues to perform their brand of rock ’n roll in the 21st century with the same passion that has existed since the very beginning, as exemplified by the just issued video for the title track of their new album ‘Born To Fly’, which will be released in January 2019.

Vocalist Mickey Finn states:

“‘Born To Fly’ is about the feeling of being meant to do something great and fighting and working to make it happen, never giving up and sticking to your guns to do it on your own terms. Remember, sometimes greatness comes in small accomplishments. If it feels great to you, then it is great! We shot the video on two rooftop locations in the southside of downtown Los Angeles, on one long day and night in July.”

The new album, made by the core Jetboy trio of Rowe, Rod and Finn together with Faster Pussycat bassist Eric Stacy and drummer Al Serrato, is the first full length record by the band since 1990. A blend of edgy rock ’n roll with a traditional blues influence, it is the perfect vehicle to exploit the commanding style of the band’s classic sound. “The inspiration for ‘Born To Fly’ came from a long list of influences from bands we all grew up on in the 70’s. Jetboy has always approached writing with a simple stripped down, no nonsense structure, starting with a great riff and a catchy hook.

“This album flowed so organically, everything felt like it was meant to be. We have also grown as musicians, which helped capture what we feel is some of our best work to date,” says Rowe.

‘Born To Fly’ is a fine rock record by any measure, with hints of the band’s 70’s influences and 80’s sound, while adding three plus decades of experience to the grooves. Jetboy is ready to fly again.

The band play three UK dates in late August/early September:

  • 31.08.18  BRADFORD Trash
  • 01.09.18  SHEFFIELD O2 Academy / HRH Sleaze Festival
  • 02.09.18  LONDON Underworld

PRETTY BOY FLOYD

The current album by Pretty Boy Floyd, ‘Public Enemies’, was released in late 2017. Exactly the sort of record you would expect from these seasoned veterans of The Sunset Strip, it is a fun record to be played at maximum volume, described by founder/guitarist Kristy Majors as “staying loyal to our 80’s roots and a true follow-up to our classic ‘Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz’.”

Back when rock was about having a good time, letting your hair down and creating chaos and anarchy, the New York based Majors hooked up with west coast front man Steve Summers in Hollywood and the duo laid the foundations for their dream band. They worked, wrote songs and played constantly, choosing the name Pretty Boy Floyd because it seemed to describe them – four tough teens armed with guitar licks and angst setting out to conquer the world. As the new millennium rolled in, a generation of young fans who weren’t even born when the band first emerged began to wonder what they had missed out on back in the sleaze rock heyday of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.

Original and new fans alike found common ground – a love of the band’s music, sleazy shows and fun times. Never mind the critics, or what trends may have come and gone, Pretty Boy Floyd continue to record and tour, winning new converts both young and old. The band play three UK shows in mid-September:

  • 14.09.18  NOTTINGHAM Rock City
  • 15.09.18  HULL Welly Club / Hair Metal Heaven Festival
  • 16.09.18  LONDON Underworld
