Hand of Dimes have played some memorable shows this year with The Quireboys, Bernie Marsden (playing a Whitesnake set), Thunder and Cats in Space at the Castle (with guest guitarist Jim Kirkpatrick from FM), and they’ve rocked at HRH AOR. The band are now looking forward to some great shows coming up, including the Stonedeaf Festival this Saturday (25th August)
However, HoD’s regular guitarist Colin Edwards has been recovering from an operation, so the band looked for a talented guitarist to step in. Top of their list was Bruce John Dickinson, of Little Angels, b.l.o.w. and Colour of Noise.
“It was a long-shot,” says Nev MacDonald (Hand of Dimes’ singer and front man), “As we know, Bruce is busy with his own business venture, supporting young musicians who are looking to get into the music business – but Bruce was happy to help out.”
Bruce recently founded Brighton’s newest innovative music college, WaterBear, along with Adam Bushell (of Freak Power) and Mark Clayden (of Pitchshifter
Despite preparing for WaterBear’s official opening, Bruce is delighted to step in to play. “It’s a privilege to be asked to play guitar with the amazing Hand of Dimes,” says Bruce, “An opportunity to meet up with old friends, on stage and off, and play some great music with the boys.”
“On a personal level, it’s gonna be quite a buzz for me to be onstage with Bruce, especially considering our history…” says Nev MacDonald. “I remember Little Angels bursting on to the scene when they supported Kooga at the legendary Marquee Club in London…I remember thinking ‘…shit, we’ve got our work cut out here!’ Ha!”
Come and see this one-off collaboration between Bruce John Dickinson & Hand of Dimes at Stonedeaf Festival!
Hand of Dimes will be announcing a run of shows with FM soon.
