Some things come along at just the right time and Joe Bonamassa’s timing is as impeccable as his razor-sharp suits.
The modern King of American Blues is back and recorded at the world–famous Abbey Road studios, ‘A Conversation With Alice’ is a ray of sunshine and hope in the darkness, a mouth-watering taster for his, as yet untitled, forthcoming album.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SKxbA2YtW8&w=560&h=315]With its big, bold opening, the song brings back those wonderful days of the 1970’s when superlative musicianship and songwriting ruled the airwaves. The track is premium quality and has echoes of the slide guitarwork of Joe Walsh but very much with Bonamassa’s own stamp of identity, it rolls along on a gorgeously slow groove, stabs of ringing fretwork grabbing the listener as it takes off.
Another high benchmark in his career and proof, if ever it was needed, that here is not only a master of his craft but one of the all-time greats. It really doesn’t get any better than this.
