Sometimes, just sometimes, the planets align and everything comes together in perfect symmetry, producing something so epic that it becomes legend from the moment it is born.
Such as it is with this, the dream collaboration between Halestorm and Evanescence’s Amy Lee.
They could have gone for bluster, the thought of Lizzy Hale and Lee, surely two of the greatest voices in modern rock, going toe to toe to see who would win a knock out fight a tantalising one but no, this is much more subtle and sublime.

A slow burning ballad, this builds slowly from it’s gentle piano opening as gossamer layer upon layer is added, Hale’s vocals full of soul and longing. When Lee joins in the effect is electrifying, something already unutterably beautiful lifting to a different plain entirely as the two trade lines, their voices intertwining and coming together to reach lofty emotional peaks.
Truly a thing of wonder and a genuine match made in Heaven, ‘Break In’ would make statues and angels weep.
