Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

The future Kings of Festivals, Alter Bridge, bring their ‘A Game’ in this pummeling new track, bringing together all the elements that have cemented their place in the hearts of metal fans all over this shining blue sphere hanging in space.

Balancing their huge crunch with irresistible melody, Mark Tremonti brings his thunderous riffing, Myles Kennedy soars and Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips pound the living daylights out of their instruments in something that could flatten towns.

The lyrics are incredibly prescient, considering current national events on a national and global scale, displaying that the band have always been so much more sophisticated than having to fall back on the usual subjects of rock ‘n’ roll, girls and cars for their subject material, the punch as emotional as it is musical.

Appealing on all levels, ‘Last Rites’ shows, once again, that Alter Bridge are unstoppable.
