Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

The first track released from forthcoming new album, ‘Medicine At Midnight’, the Foos prove with new single ‘Shame Shame’ what a modern rock band should sound like.

Classy and mid-tempo, this sways and sashays on it’s juddering rhythm as it builds and builds into a delicious shower of colour.

Dave Grohl leads his merry band of travelling players with the calm assurance of a man who has stadiums full of people hanging on his every word, the songwriting adding layer upon layer as it shines with an irresistibly sweet melody that is counterpointed by the sharp lyrics, a steel fist in a silk glove.

The Foo Fighters have worked hard to build upon their reputation, each new album a triumph of willfully pushing themselves and doing things their way rather than just giving way to the expectations of the masses or the pressures of record companies.

A joy to hear, nobody does it better and long may they continue this way.
