If the boss would let me do a one word review for ‘BRAVE NEW WORLD’ taken from Jim Kirkpatrick’s long awaited new solo album ’Ballad of a Prodigal Son’, I’d still struggle but in a good way.

Too many adjectives spring to mind and none would be good enough on their own to express just how good this song is.

With the release of the video to accompany the track, this is, exceptional blues rock at its classic best.

A richness to the vocal and easy on the ear lyrics but it’s the guitar work that floors you.

The mellowness followed by the soaring nimbleness of the solos which flood your ears with the sort of riffs that you have to close your eyes and get lost in.

Jim has a talent that is up there with some of the greats in my humble opinion and this track demonstrates his admirable playing, the influences in his career are there but it is his own ability that is on show here.

Don’t just take my word for it, here at Metal Planet Music’s UK lockdown base the lovely Fiona was completely speechless (my work here is done!)

Seriously, I cannot find the words, just wrap your ears around it and enjoy.

Remember that you can order the CD and vinyl from www.jimkirkpatrick.com
