Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
With his recent ‘CMFT’ album Corey Taylor stretched his wings and proved once and for all that he can be just a ferocious away from his masked persona as the frontman of Slipknot.
One of the highlights from his solo outing, this track has enough punch and furious melody to carry its tightly controlled power to the finishing line in a snarling blur.
Forget the pretenders and weekend ‘punks’, this has attitude and honesty by the bucketload and is played with more verve than most other band around today.
It’s an unarguable fact that Taylor is a national treasure, albeit a kicking, screaming and angry one, but first and foremost he’s a damn fine artist and that’s something worth celebrating.
A total rush, the only way to approach ‘Everyone Dies On My Birthday’ is to strap yourself in and hang on for dear life.
