The new single from Pale Waves…..very addictive
The first thing that jumped out at me is that really dialed in guitar tone. And comes Heather’s vocal…yes please.
Her voice has this seductiveness to it that draws you in….instantly! I can hear the elements of all the 90’s female singers we know and love but there’s an edge that’s all her own! I really, really like her voice and she has some interesting nuances that really suck you in.
Her lyrics are my cup of tea too!
There’re an indie rock band so the music is never going to be the most interesting but what it is there for is to set the mood and it does the job.
The production is really nice and clear and as I said before the tones on the instruments are very nice indeed.
There are also a lot of things to analyze in they are sound. It’s very contradictory but there a darkness to the sound but also a brightness, there’s muddiness but also a clinical side, it’s underground but also radio friendly and I find that interesting.
Put it this way, I immediately started listening to their earlier stuff and you should too….a strong and sexy track from the Manchester based quartet.
