Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

As Prog supergroup Transatlantic prepare to release their fifth album ‘The Absolute Universe’, this delightful slice of multilayered goodness is a primer for the wonder to come.

The powerful combination of Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Pete Trewavas and Roine Stolt bring to bear all their mastery in something that avoids all the old clichéd stylings people imagine the genre contains but inject a new life and passion.

Dazzling musicianship welded to great songwriting and structure is an irresistible mix and ‘The World We Used To Know’ has that magic formula.

This is something to just let wash over your body and into your mind as it soothes and amazes in equal quantities. Intelligent, mindboggling and endlessly enjoyable.
