Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
You had to be living in a nuclear bunker for the past few months to be unaware that rock ‘n’ roll titans AC/DC had released a new album, such was the seismic impact.
Arguably their finest in thirty years, ‘Power Up’ kicked off with this giant slab of deliriously good time hard rocking boogie.
Realize’ sends shivers running down your spine from the very first crash of power chords and when you hear Brian Johnson’s oh so familiar whisky soaked voice there’s absolutely no stopping.
With a brilliant start / stop guitar shuffle solo from Angus Young and the finest rhythm section on earth laying down a sledgehammer groove you know that the Kings of Rock are back to their best and here to reclaim their crown.
No-one lights up the sky like AC/DC and this one track is as feral, down and dirty as anything that came from the wreckage of last year, a timely reminder of the true force of music to tilt the world on its axis.
Pure, no-nonsense, balls-out fun.
