Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

Def Leppard and Down ‘N’ Outz frontman Joe Elliott has never made a secret of his love of glam rock and in particular the iconic David Bowie.

Taken from their last, outstanding, album ‘This Is How We Roll’, this lovely and touching tribute to the Starman himself absolutely nails the emotion that many felt at his passing and the love between the performer and his fans.

Interweaving countless nods to song titles, this builds and builds in a graceful dance and grandeur that leads to a achingly tasteful extended and dazzling guitar solo from Paul Guerin.

The passion here is obvious and it shines through every note in a song that speaks to the heart and fires the imagination.

The inventiveness and ultra cool style of the Thin White Duke is interwoven seamlessly and given the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll that directly connects Bowie with the Down ‘N’ Outz.

The importance of how one man changed the face of music can never be underestimated, his influence shaping the world and will continue to do so for decades to come as more and more generations discover his genius.

With a superb animated video accompanying the song, the Down ‘N’ Outz have added their own bright flame to the roaring fire and it’s a beacon that can be seen on Mars. You can feel Bowie’s smile in this and it doesn’t get any better than that.
