WHO SAID HAIR-METAL IS DEAD??? …WELL IT AINT AND MIDNITE CITY PROVE THAT!
The first single for their upcoming album ‘Itch You Can’t Scratch’ is ‘Crawling in The Dirt’, and it’s a belter.
From the very opening not to the sexy verse riff you can immediately hear what sound these guys are going for and they do it well, still in keeping with that classic AOR / 80s Rock sound with a modern edge that sets them apart from a lot of the other trying to do this. Think Hanoi Rocks, Faster Pussycat and Motley Crue, these dudes fit right in!
The rhythm section of the very talented Newdeck and Williams is solid and I need say no more. The keyboards from Charvette, as with most songs of this genre adds warmth and fills the sound with depth.
Meakin’s guitar parts match the sound and sultriness of the greats like Mars and DeVille, his tone is outstanding.
Then we must talk about the vocals of Wylde. The important thing to note here is that its ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE and this is something that lacks in many records today with vocalists striving for notes rather than feel.
This sound does not call for that, it’s about delivery. Much like DLR and Janey Lane amongst others, Wylde’s vocal is full of charisma and a style that is all his own and we don’t NEED the acrobatics and antics that we get with a lot of music these days, we just need a song sung with raw energy and he does just that!

It’s a track full of glam, hooks and just the right amount of bombast that’s needed….top tune !!
