MYKE GRAY DOES IT AGAIN!
A lot of us know Myke and his work with the likes of Jagged Edge and Skin but this new release from Shades of Gray is just as good as the rest and the overall concept and glam of dressing in different ‘shades’ shows his wealth of talent….and it brings the fun back to music!
I’ve always said there are 2 different types of people in music, people who do what they do ( and sometimes do it well) and the people that really can turn their hand to anything and any genre and be great at it. Myke is a very intellectual musician and falls into the latter type.
You can hear throughout his vast catalogue the influences and that he LOVES music, this release is no different.
There are many elements in just this one song that makes it what it is. I hear 70s glam hooks; I hear 90s crunch and then there’s 80s style harmonies that are so perfect it makes you want to scream (in a good way of course)
Another thing to note on this is that a true songwriter knows the serve the song and not take every opportunity to show off their skills they have and in the end kind of be boring, another thing Myke does really well, there seems to be no ego which as a listener is so refreshing to hear….and we all know what he can do….BUT HE SERVES THE SONG!
Overall a solid track that is a great sing along I really enjoyed it ! I’m sure we will hear a lot more from Myke and his collaborators I the future!!!
