Statement’s guitarist and singer, Niels Alex Larsen has a new project called Nalex and his debut single `Never Ending Story’ has just been released.
Larsen, like many songwriters has found that some material just doesn’t fit the mould of his main band, so songs not destined for Statement are now to see the light of day as Nalex, and with some 25 years on the Danish metal scene you know the pedigree is going to be good.
Larsen not only sings and plays guitar here, but also drums and bass. He is also aided by Tue Madsen on the guitar solo and keyboard parts.
A heavy drum and bass beat kicks off the track giving way to a pure guitar and vocal bridge which then builds into the rousing melodic rocking chorus all underpinned by a driving deep guitar riff. Larsen’s bright voice brings light to this intense track. Madsen, who produced the track, adds a great seventies styled lead solo mid song too.
Larsen has been inspired by some of the greats such as Scorpions, Metallica, Tesla, Judas Priest, King Diamond, as well as his fellow danish songwriters like Ronnie Atkins, Jesper Binzer, and Tim Christensen which has led to a sound that is packed with massive drums, hard rock riffs and a large helping of melodies.
If this is taste of what’s to come from Larsen then the future is very promising indeed.
