Those Damn Crows had a right to look forward to 2020 as the 5 piece from Bridgend, Wales released their second album, ‘Point Of No Return’ in February to critical acclaim.
The album hit the UK National Chart at number 14 and with a supporting tour, festival appearances and a support slot lined up for Thunder later in the year, things were looking rosy.
The small matter of a worldwide pandemic put paid to the hope of any live appearances since, but the Crows haven’t been idle.
Weekly episodes of the Crowcast, the band’s own podcast series launched during lockdown last year on their YouTube channel, kept them busy and in the public eye and featured special guests including Skunk Anansie, Motorhead, Massive Wagons. Bullet for My Valentine, Thunder, Five Finger Death Punch amongst others.
To celebrate the anniversary of the album, they have now released ‘Sick Of Me’ which features as both a standalone track and on the new digital of ‘Point Of No Return: Ultimate Edition’.
The track was recorded at home in Wales before Christmas with the official video shot in January 2021 and is all about the battles we have within ourselves to remain positive despite the toxic environment we sometimes find ourselves.
This is a track lavishly produced by Romesh Dodangoda who gives the song a theatrical vibe that wouldn’t be out of place on ‘Bat Out Of Hell’, but he hasn’t done this at the expense of the Crows sound, instead embracing it and marrying the 2 perfectly.
From the crashing drums and grinding guitars of the intro, through Greenhall’s emotive vocals, this is the Crow’s at their finest, reflecting the world around them with the lyrics that many will relate to.
The track builds and builds to a crescendo, falls back to Greenhall’s vocal and piano before rising and falling to a finish.
Those Damn Crows are without doubt one of the hottest bands out there at the moment and on this form intend picking up where they left off. ‘Sick Of Me’ is already a high point of 2021 proving that this is a band the world needs to see us through the dark times.
Play it loud, play it again and again and your neighbours will thank you!
‘Sick Of Me’ is available now via all digital platforms
