Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
Part of a forthcoming filmic release that captures the essence of fantastical movies like ‘Lord of the Rings’, composer / musician Kitt Wakeley continues his pursuit of huge and grand sounding music that captures the atmosphere of the blockbusters.
This though is something even better than something written to play exclusively along already scripted action as the storylines suggested as you absorb yourself into Wakeley’s world are purely your own.
Whilst his sweeping orchestration and use of choirs key into the grander elements of the genre, his mixing rock tropes into the picture lifts it to another plain altogether.
Here we have the wailing and quicksilver fretwork of Joe Satriani adding additional colours and layers to the drama and it’s a juxtaposition that works incredibly well.
The titles and soundscape paint their own pictures and it’s certainly a release to cherish and immerse yourself in. A work of outstanding imagination and verve.
