Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
During their height during the mid 70’s Sweet were always one of the heaviest bands out there, the immediately accessible Glam Rock of the singles hiding the roaring beasts that lurked on the flipside of the hits and in the album tracks.
‘Set Me Free’ is one such song, the opener of Sweet’s sophomore album ‘Sweet Fanny Adams’, it rocks hard and this newly re recorded version, featuring ex Cats In Space frontman Paul Manzi, mixes their unmistakable ear for a melody with a real bite.
Capturing the fire of their live shows, this positively crackles with electricity and shows that the band are as good as ever.
There’s never been a better time to dig out those stack heels and crank out the tunes as Sweet were always the best around and the kings have returned to claim their crown.
