Review by Andy Houghton for MPM
‘Hungry, High & Seeing Things’ is the latest EP from Kiss Kiss Bang, who hail from Bowling Green, Kentucky. The band comprises Trevor Smith, Clayton Crowder and Andrew Hopper, who were supported by drummer Taylor Sanders for this studio recording.
The EP offers up a slice of classic rock, and a mighty tasty slice it is too. The aggressively energetic guitars are positively feral, supported by a dynamic bassline and overlaid with some excellent three-part harmonies. All this comes together to create a powerhouse of an EP that you’re going to want to play at full volume.
‘Solid Gold’ sets things up nicely, showcasing the band’s Eagles-style vocals to good effect while providing considerable punch with the instrumentals. Standout track ‘High Price (for Peace of Mind)’ takes things up another level, containing the best riffs of the EP and culminating in some exquisitely delicate guitar work.
‘Easy 2 Love’ delivers a giddying guitar solo, with a powerful contribution from Taylor Sanders on drums. ‘Slow Motion’ is anything but – sure, the track may be a little more restrained than the others, but it still manages to pack one hell of a punch whilst drawing the EP to a close.
‘Hungry, High & Seeing Things’ marks a new high for this exciting and exhilarating band. Highly recommended.
