Review by Tammy Lomax for MPM
Viatorem are a fresh and modern new progressive hardcore/deathcore band, London based they have released their second 2 track E.P ‘Bulls On Parade’ on the 16th April and its an absolutely crushing record.
Following the footsteps of one of the biggest politically-driven bands, Rage Against The Machine, Viatorem are bringing it back to life and have created their take on the original version.
Viatorem in Latin means “traveller, messenger” and the band stand strong in their beliefs to tackle, educate and spread the message against hate, governing bodies that lead with greed and tyranny and all right-wing fascist beliefs.
Their version of ‘Bulls On Parade’ got me really excited, there is a very high level of musicianship collectively.
It is so aggressive and there is a good balance of sound with all the instruments. I definitely agree that there is a modern hardcore sound seeping through and there are some decent drops that make your stomach become withdrawn. I wouldn’t say I prefer it over the original though one reason being the bass tone sound is completely different to the original and it’s not as chunky or poignant.
It is a really beefy weighty modern version though and I really did appreciate it.
Viatorem are only a couple of years young but after COVID-19 and when some normality resumes, they are geared and ready to destroy venues across the U.K.
NO SAVIOURS, NO KINGS. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE.
