Review by Tammy Lomax for MPM

Balance Breach signed to Out Of Line Music in January 2020, just after celebrating and performing The Tuska Open Air Metal Festival and winning the competition in 2019, the Finnish metalcore group coming together in 2015.

This is their latest offering and is a little taster for their upcoming second album, the new material from the band since ‘Dead End Diaries’ in 2020.

Drummer Antti Halonen comments: “With ‘Escapers of Paradise’, we are moving to the darkest and most serious place that Balance Breach has ever been in. The song itself is like an emotional discharge, showing all the colors of frustration, anxiety and misery of letting go”.

After listening to ‘Escapers Of Paradise’ it’s distinct that Balance Breach are accurately displaying what they are capable of. Compared to the album ‘Dead End Diaries’ it is more evolved and undoubtedly has a greater, fiercer edge.

Finding the right mixes and balances relating to the production with any metalcore sound is a crucial necessity and in this Balance Breach have a respectable equilibrium between their melodic samples and their guitar work, the production is finely mixed with nothing sounding too overbearing.

I really like the vocals as Aleksi Paasonen has done an amazing job at concreting the new material, advancing his delivery faster paced and full of aggressiveness, every frustrating emotion in every lyric is expelled, resulting in maximum impact straight up in the listeners face.

There are some incredible well placed switch changes with the bass and guitars, demonstrating a raw quality team effort, these highlighting the band’s technical abilities and talents making them shine. Also, the anthemic chorus is a belter and the breakdown just solidifies my needs, what a boulder of umph!!

‘Escapers Of Paradise’ was mixed and mastered by producers Carson Slovak, Grant McFarland and their team and I salute this incredible release and am certainly looking forward to what else Balance Breach can bring to the table.
