Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
The storm is here and it will change your life for ever. London quartet Hawxx have been promising to unleash something special, their profile rising faster than anyone could have dreamt was possible, the time spent plotting world domination now coming to fruition and ‘Death of Silence’ is the first mighty salvo from their next chapter.
Sweeping and propulsive, this is modern metal at its very finest and somehow manages to bring together brutality and an aching beauty all in the space of under three minutes.
With its nagging riff that will get under your skin before it bores straight into your skull and their trademark gorgeous harmonies and mighty hooks, the mix is beyond sublime. Guitars lacerate, drums and bass thunder and vocals are a siren call that you’ll never be able to resist, this is just as near perfect as you could hope to get.
The message at the centre of the maelstrom is one of empowerment too and this potent mix is not just going to kick down doors but flatten city blocks with the power to really change things.
You just need to decide which side you’re on but, word to the wise, HAWXX are already assured victory, the battle and the war theirs. THIS is music.
