Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
It takes balls to tackle one of the biggest anthems by one of the biggest bands on the planet, but Edge of Paradise’s take on The Who’s classic brings things to new epic heights.
Fired by the expressive vocals of Margarita Monet, whose singularly effective blend of mix power and seduction is perfect for the flow and ebb of the song, it’s a bold, adrenaline fuelled version that rocks.
With a swinging groove provided by Justin Blair’s bass and the drums of Jamie Moreno, the grit of David Ruiz’s guitar adds more punch before the soulful, blues dripping lead work of Dave Bates adds gasoline to the fire.
Lighting up the sky, the Los Angeles based band have taken something by one of the most quintessentially British bands and made it their own, the results jaw dropping.
Whilst some purists may quibble, THIS is how to cover a song.
