Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
Following the reception it received at their annual Christmas show, Vega were encouraged to record and release their take on the Def Leppard classic and mighty fine it is too.
Whilst we all know its curves and power, VEGA have very much added their own flavour to this staple of the Sheffield rockers back catalogue, mixing sheen with, say it quietly, a bit more grit than the original.
Frontman Nick Workman is in fine voice and the solo by Marcus Thurston adds a solo packed with melody and some very nice fretboard touches, the harmonies spot on.
Given the growing strength of their already vibrant back catalogue, this was going to be an interesting release to throw into the pot but, shorn of the multi million dollar and lengthy production, this lively swing is well worth your time and an ultimate party banger.
Tapping into the adrenaline that’s so much part of hard rock, VEGA have delivered the goods in fine style.
