Taking its cues from previous single ‘Turn Off the Lights’, synth-pop duo Misery Kids are back with their infectious new offering ‘Without You’.

Bridging the gap between the shimmery synth-pop of The 1975 and the emo theatrics of Panic at the Disco, this newest release builds on the foundations laid by their previous singles and amps things up further still.

It’s this aesthetic of upbeat yet emotionally loaded emo-pop that has already seen the band turning heads across the industry, supporting pop-punk royalty like Cute is What We Aim For and The Dangerous Summer, as well as rising UK stars such as October Drift.

It’s these support slots that lead to the band’s first headline show at The Crofters Rights, Bristol in early 2020. The show sold-out with fans travelling from all over the country and the energy in the room was electric. That ecstatic response surged through Misery Kids and spurred the band to take the nationwide lockdowns in their stride and write a huge amount of new material.

It’s this new material that ‘Without You’ comes from. Three minutes of impactful percussion and button bright synths that builds effortlessly towards a conclusion made for arenas and festival stages, it’s described by the band as being a track that “takes you on a familiar journey to a place we have all been before, battling the duality of what is right and what is wrong, and emotionally wrestling the consequences of our actions.”

“The track describes a tale of two friends that romantically fall for one another. Blinded by passion and living in the moment, blissfully ignorant of the troubles that lay ahead. The vintage synths and lyrical content gives the track a nostalgic feel about it as we reflect on old times with past lovers.”
