Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM
London’s Dead Writers are so effortlessly cool that they should come with a health warning, their individual mix of rock, blues, soul and twists of Edwardian Goth as addictive as Absinthe.
With flourishes of a bygone romantic era, singer Paul Shine and his merry troupe of strolling players have cut quite the dash amongst the music scene of the capital, their intelligent and stylish take on rock a bewitching attraction to all who come into their acquaintance.
New single ‘Lisa’ is a feast of rolling, vaudevillian blues and brings four minutes of cinematic and atmospheric melody and hooks that don’t attempt to flatten you with their power but dazzle and then seduce you, all whilst wearing a velvet smoking jacket.
A thing of beauty and with a video that is like a salve to the soul, ‘Lisa’ is a thing of sublime wonder and something to bring additional cheer to this most magical of seasons.
