Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

London’s hottest trio Teiger have well and truly sunk their teeth into this cover, their smouldering take on the Portishead classic.

Adding a more sensuous and seductive edge, Talie Eigeland brings out her inner siren into this twisted version, her voice and guitar instruments of barbed promises as Jon Steele and Phillip Eldridge-Smith bring a groove that skates just the right side of danger.

There’s a warmth here that draws Jeff Buckley comparisons, the late genius managing to sprinkle a little mystery in every note and Teiger have somehow caught that willo-the-wisp lightning in a bottle.

At times ethereal, sudden dips into the intense heighten the otherworldly sensations of the journey, your mind walking the tightrope with them every step of the way, the live recording adding to the atmosphere of what will happen next. It’s a beautiful thing.
