Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

Well, this is a blast! Girlschool are back with a new album, their first in many moons, and this lead single from ‘WTFortyfive’ is an absolute classic arsekicking rocker.

Perfectly capturing all the fire and fun of their nascent early days, this is the quartet at their feral finest, the new gang in town out to make an impression.

From the roar of Kim McAuliffe’s vocals, her furious fretwork meshing with the massive riffs of Jackie Chambers and the freight train bass and drums of Tracey Lamb and Denise Dufort, this is peak Girlschool.

With the added licks by Alcatrazz sixstringer Joe Stump ripping things up for a solo, this has enough juice to light up a small city. As their recent tour proved, the demolition girls have no interest in slowing down and ‘Are You Ready?’ may just be the biggest rush you’ll get all week. Are we ready? Damn right we are!
