Review by Taf Rock for MPM
CONSTELLATIONS is the first track to see the light of day from Jack J Hutchinson’s forthcoming album BATTLES. The album isn’t due for release until next year (February 9th) so this serves as a teaser well in advance of the main product .
Accompanying the single is a great video directed by Kris Barras featuring Phil Wilson on drums and Charlie Rachael Kay on bass. The track has been produced and co-written by the multi talented Josiah Manning (Kris Barras Band) at his own Momentum Studios. Indeed Josiah himself transformed this track from a bluesy based song into this out and out rocker
What we have here is a fast paced gritty track a mere 3 minutes in length. It sure packs a lot into those 3 minutes too. Phil’s thunderous drums continue at pace throughout the track , which together with Charlie’s solid bass form a solid rhythm allowing Jack himself to excel on guitar and vocals. There’s even time mid track for a searing lead break from the man himself . Fast paced it may be but Jack’s vocals are very tuneful and a highlight of this short and snappy track
I can see this song getting plenty of radio airplay in the months before the release of BATTLES and going on to become favourite in future live shows with the crowd belting out the chorus ‘Stand tall, I’ve found my better days, dig deep I’ve learned to walk away’ . Lyrics we can all identify with as we fight our own personal battles in life
The definition of constellations is ‘a group of stars’. No star shines brighter than Jack J Hutchinson himself on this track. On the evidence of this tasty track February 9th can’t come quick enough and we will all be rushing to grab a copy of BATTLES
