Review by Tammy Lomax for MPM

It has erupted like a rocket!

“The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams” blasted us all in the face on the 5th April! Ingested released their eighth album via Metal Blade Records. This monster record features guest appearances from Chimaira’s Mark Hunter and Sylosis vocalist Josh Middleton, absolutely BEAMING!

They were not wrong when they stated it was more energetic than their 2022 album, “Ashes Lie Still”.

Hold my biscuit, this is going to be intense.

The tracks are whopping, each one has its own personal identity and they are all motivated by the emotions felt towards those individual experiences. This album, in every single aspect, is an elevation in comparison to everything Ingested have created previously, they have utterly nailed it.

‘Paragon Of Purity’ was the first single released in celebration of their album announcement, alongside that crucifying video. This single is a toast, a nod of appreciation regarding how they love what they do, proudness in how much they have achieved (through sheer hard work) and gratefulness for the support of their families, which is a huge deal. The track itself is the perfect opener for the album and Ingested are not fluffing around in the slightest. The mancunians drop this slab of metal onto the table and you just gotta deal with it.

‘Pantheon’ followed its release next and is an expression of self doubt, questioning if you are good enough, if you are deserving of your position and if you belong to be where you are. It’s a greatly passionate statement and the track itself is ferocious. Umph.

‘Endless Machine’ keeps the flow going, Ingested is on a roll and it is assuredly pounding. This whopping track is about working tirelessly at an endless job that is not fulfilling and the feelings of being unappreciated are enormous. Enough is enough and you grab the bull by its horns, make the steps to sack it all off and work for yourself doing what you love, in a career you feel loyal to.

Josh Middleton added his flavour on track ‘Expect To Fail’ which was also written on the same day as ‘Where No Light Shines’. Both of these tracks are highlighting the importance of proving your rivals wrong, how everything that is said by these low lives is a tool to bring you down and basically, screw you and watch us rise. ‘Where No Light Shines’ is one of my front runners, what an absolute knockout.

‘Numinous’ is purely instrumental and is a perfect addition for the album breaker, its deep man. It’s emotionally gripping and fully absorbing, muchly needed as you can take a moment to digest what the heck has just happened. It’s a decent heart chugger and feels like a satisfying breather.

‘In Nothingness’ features guest vocals from Mark Hunter and the album morphs in a slightly different direction from this point but still, all the walloping straight to your face remains.

‘Kingdom Of Sand’ is the wake up call we all need and they tap into some clean vocals and slow paced melodic elements when closing the album with ‘A Path Once Lost’ that naturally sits perfectly.

There is zero doubt whatsoever that Ingested are devoted at being tenacious in everything they do. They have just completed their 4 week European Tour and a much deserved rest will be required. They are consistently focused with their music, pushing their own boundaries further and moulding it, which remains tightly efficient, rooted and continuously thumps you straight to the insides of your stomach.

I have had this album on repeat and it’s the chunkiest, most meaty album I’ve heard this year. It is one chunky lump of death metal.

Breakdowns that shake your soul, guitars that just shred your face off, dynamic vicious vocals and those drums, Lyn you absolute GOD!

Recently my time has been pretty stretched and it took a little time to get round to this review but I was adamant to finish this!

Ingested deserves the big up, you guys are total inspirations, living legends!
