Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

It’s incredible to think that Hannover legends Scorpions have been active for almost six decades, but they show absolutely no sign of slowing down or resting on their laurels.

If anyone wants proof that they’re as powerful as they’ve ever been needs to take one listen to ‘Peacemaker’ and see that the band are firing on all turbo charged cylinders.

Urgent and fully loaded with style, this is hard rock nirvana, the twin guitars of Matthias Jabs and Rudolf Schenker singing out the riff whilst Mikkey Dee’s drums and the bass of Pawel Maciwoda hit like a Mack truck.

Over this locomotive, Klaus Meine’s distinctively strong and forceful vocals are on top form, the message loud and clear, the whole a heady rush of adrenaline that matches muscle with melody that is nothing short of thrilling.

With a scorching solo from Jabs and a furious production that brings out the best of Scorpions, the veteran rockers are still the very best that’s around and as deadly as ever. Here’s to the next few decades and long may they sting.
