Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

The world has just stopped. Whilst chaos reigns all around, German heavyweight legends Rammstein have released this new single and it’s possibly the best thing they’ve ever done.

Matched with a stunning video, the song clocks in at an epic six minutes plus and every second is used to
it’s fullest.

Eschewing the strident approach that some of their more brutal material has, ‘Zeit’ builds on an opening of angelic choirs and piano, drawing you in to a world of sonic wonder as Till Lindemann’s
distinctive voice walks you through this strange new land.

Around the half way mark the tempo picks up a little but this isn’t a turbocharged race to the finish, more the delicate adding of layers to give strength and weight, giving the title, translated to ‘time’ in English more poignancy.

Certainly there’s nothing rushed here and the building of the structure of the track is something that’s done with the utmost thought and precision.

The title track to their forthcoming album, ‘Zeit’ is a masterpiece.
