Heavy metal titans Lamb Of God join forces with Megadeth to remake a true classic. Originally released in 1986, “Wake Up Dead” was the lead single from Megadeth’s iconic multi-platinum selling album Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?

And now, one week before the second instalment of The Metal Tour Of The Year is set to commence across North America… Lamb Of God releases “Wake Up Dead” featuring Dave Mustaine and the members of Megadeth

Lamb Of God vocalist D. Randall Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell and drummer Art Cruz recorded the Megadeth classic remotely and recruited the Megadeth frontman himself to feature guitar and vocals on the song.

Mustaine lent his signature vocal to the track, with lead guitar work on the various solos by Lamb Of God’s own Mark Morton, as well as Megadeth’s Mustaine and Kiko Loureiro.

The recording also includes vocal contributions from Megadeth members James LoMenzoDirk Verbeuren, and Kiko Loureiro.

Dave Mustaine – “We had a blast playing with Lamb Of God on their cover of ‘Wake Up Dead’. Almost as much fun as we’re going to have playing every night on Metal Tour Of The Year. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.

Randy Blythe – “The first leg of The Metal Tour Of The Year back in 2021 was a total blast, and we’re about to take it on the road again.

What better way to kick it off than a little inter-band jam session? All nine members of Megadeth and Lamb Of God are on the thrash classic “Wake Up Dead”- turn it up, and we’ll see you on the road!

Mark Morton – “‘Wake Up Dead’ was a massively important song for me as an aspiring young guitar player.

It was one of the first songs that began my lifelong love of thrash metal and helped reinforce for me that, while solos may be fun, my allegiance is to the RIFF! So you can imagine what a thrill it’s been for Lamb to cover this legendary song with Dave & the rest of the Megadeth guys. Truly an honour.

We all had a lot of fun putting this together and I think you can hear that energy in the track. I hope everybody enjoys this one and we can’t wait to see y’all on The Metal Tour Of The Year.

Megadeth and Lamb Of God begin leg 2 of North America’s The Metal Tour Of The Year with special guests Trivium and In Flames on April 9th in Las Vegas, NV before wrapping May 19th in Quebec City, QC, Canada.

Lamb Of God are confirmed to headline the UK’s Bloodstock Festival this summer, taking place August 11-14, 2022 in Catton Park.

After a run round Europe, the group’s ‘State Of Unrest’ UK headline trek takes place in December, with thrash legends Kreator as special guests, and Thy Art Is Murder and Gatecreeper rounding out the bill.

LAMB OF GOD propelled heavy metal into the new millennium two decades ago with the prophetically titled New American Gospel.

They followed with 2003’s As the Palaces Burn, which made the Rolling Stone list of the Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Ashes of the Wake, released in 2004, was the first LAMB OF GOD album to be certified gold by the RIAA, as was 2006’s Sacrament, which also made a Top 10 Billboard 200 chart debut.

In 2009, LAMB OF GOD released Wrath, their first with Josh Wilbur as producer, and earned the #1 album spot on Billboard’s Hard Rock, Rock, and Tastemaker charts, with a #2 position on the Billboard 200, as well as smashing into the UK official album chart at #25 (and at #1 in the rock & metal chart)
Those #1 positions were repeated with 2012’s Resolution, which swung effortlessly between thrash, traditional metal, sludgy doom, with flashes of crust punk swagger and bravado.

LAMB OF GOD’s last album, VII: Sturm und Drang (2015) made its debut on the Billboard 200 at #3 and finished #2 in the world charts, reaching Top 5 in five countries and six additional Top 15 positions (including a UK career best at #7). The single 512 was nominated for a GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance”, the band’s fifth nomination.

In 2020 LAMB OF GOD released their critically acclaimed self-titled opus, the band’s best work to date, featuring new drummer Art Cruz.LAMB OF GOD is re-energized and unrelenting, ready to lay claim to the metal throne.

It is 39 years since Dave Mustaine founded MEGADETH, in the process pioneering the sound that would become known the world over as thrash metal.

And from the very beginning, the band proved to be the most lethal and audacious unit on the heavy music scene, pushing thrash to the limits of musical ferocity and instrumental virtuosity on early efforts with their 1985 debut, Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good! and 1986’s seminal Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?

MEGADETH have taken their place as one of metal’s most influential and respected acts—not to mention among its most successful. They have gone on to sell more than 50 million albums worldwide, earning many accolades along the way, including a GRAMMY® Award for the title track from their last album Dystopia, along with 12 additional GRAMMY® nominations, as well as five consecutive platinum/multi-platinum albums.

With sheer determination and a relentless recording and touring schedule, MEGADETH worked their way up from headlining clubs to headlining arenas, festival and stadiums, cementing a legacy that continues to grow and spread throughout the world. MEGADETH are slated to release their 16th studio album, The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead this year. Listen to Megadethhere.
