With the weather Gods smiling on the Coney Grey Showground, Rock & Blues Custom Show welcomed another full-on crowd to its 38th year providing another weekend of Music, Bikes, Food, Family and Friends.

The first evening is the ‘let your hair down and party night’ always putting on great bands to kick the weekend off and after a last-minute change which we are all becoming more accustomed too, local band The Addiction were welcomed to the stage by the irreplaceable and enigmatic resident compare Clive Jackson AKA The Doctor.

Regulars on the Nottingham live circuit it was good to see them drawing a crowd into the tent, many people enjoying the sunshine were drawn in by the hard rocking , punk fused band.

Effie has a strong stage presence which held the audience and there were plenty of heads nodding in appreciation. Well done for stepping in at the 11th hour guys.

With the humidity climbing, well known and probably the best Scorpions tribute band, Scorpyons were in for a hot and sweaty time on the stage but did it deter them from giving 100%? Of course not. Sounding so similar to the originals, the party had well and truly started.

This was a ‘best of’ set and every song was well known and performed as the Scorpions would, at full tilt. Vocally amazingly strong too, this band are so professional in their imitation of the band they clearly idolise it was a pleasure to be able to watch, listen and enjoy.

The festival goers were definitely in party mode clearly enjoying the Scorpyons so the tent was rammed full when the Iron Maiden endorsed Hi-On Maiden took the reigns to continue the party.

Wow! That bassline – the floods of guitars, close your eyes and you could be about to witness Messrs Dickinson, Harris and colleagues rocking the Derbyshire countryside.

However, no one can match Bruce’s unique and powerful vocal but this was all about the songs, again the leading Maiden tribute band smashed out one classic after another, note perfect and thoroughly enjoyable.

Several appearances from their very own Eddie in several of his incarnations topped off an absolutely, brilliant set.

Party night for sure…so many faces singing along, fists in the air completely enjoying the opening night.

Well done Rock and Blues Custom Show organisers, what a brilliant start to the weekend, bring on the next two days!
