Review by Tammy Lomax for MPM

Creative artist Tyronne Buddy-Lee Ike Hill is better known by his stage name Kid Bookie. Kid Bookie is a man of many skills, he is a guitarist, singer and rapper and comes from Southeast London.

There’s been a huge positive push over the last few years, he’s worked with some huge artists like Tech N9ne, Bexey, Corey Taylor and Sid Wilson.

Kid Bookie has released 2 incredible singles in preparation for his newly released E.P ‘Mass Hysteria’, via Marshall Records.

The singles ‘Game’ featured Corey Taylor and ‘Let It Ring’ which featured Ziey Kizzy.

’Let It Ring’ is a song for the completely fed up, whether it’s friend or foe, those who stand in our way to test our patience, over and over again. Whether we use foreign instruments to solve those problems or the innate desire to explode on those who try to press us, this song acts as an anthem to bring that prowess that you are holding back to fruition.

‘Mass Hysteria’ was produced, mixed and mastered by Billy Martin and follows the 2021 album release ‘Cheaper Than Therapy’. This album achieved Top 10 in iTunes Rock Charts.

There have been many nods of approval regarding ‘Mass Hysteria’, it is a combination of metal guitar work meets hip hop, this discovery of new music is full of total gratitude.

There’s definitely a Korn/Linkin Park kind of vibe but the groove and beats in places slightly reminds me of the virtual group Gorillaz.

‘Game’ is an angry chunk of metal; Corey’s influence certainly gives it some beefy weight. ‘Let It Ring’ spotlights Kid Bookie’s ultimate talent of rapping. ‘All The Same’ is an anger fueled rage, the tones of the guitars are heavy, chunky blocks. ‘Here We Go’ showcases some clean vocals, perfectly placed within the E.P and opens another sight into Kid Bookie’s versatility.

Title track ‘Mass Hysteria’ is where it’s at for me, it’s the meat beat. ‘Say A Word’ closes the quaint E.P with a heartfelt emotion.

Considering he’s categorically a one-man project, his music packs a punch. The mixes are injected with pure refinery and his sounds are full of solid edge.
