Review by Rob Broom for MPM

Speak Evil is the third in a trilogy of E.Ps from Bang Bang Firecracker. The previous two being ‘See Evil’ and Hear Evil’

Opening cut ‘Life After Dark’ is a slow, brooding, ponderous slice of metal, making Black Sabbath seem rapid. It is a dramatic ,solid piece of metal and very atmospheric. If riffs are your thing, then Bang Bang Firecracker bring them in spades!

Second track ‘Straight to the Bloodshed’ is, by comparison to ‘Life After Dark’, a veritable break neck paced speed affair. It riffs along with a psychotic grin on its face, vocalist and guitarist Kieron Berry clearly enjoying himself and he slots in a tremendous guitar solo just to keep the air guitarists totally content. This should be an absolute belter live.

Final track ‘We Can’t Hear You’ picks up the pace even further. Reminding me perhaps of Slayer with some tremendous thrashing and riffing, the song (like the others) are characterised by well delivered vocals, which make all the difference as far as I am concerned.

Bass from Marcus Wrench and drums from Bob Ansell complete this power trio and the whole sound is extremely tight. There’s a radio friendly version of this track as well so the mainstream don’t have an excuse to avoid playing new music.

Overall, having never heard of the band before I can safely say they are well worth checking out. They hail from Staffordshire in the UK so check them out via social media for the next live shows and give them your support by buying the music.
