Ever since their formation in 2008 Sheffield’s arachnid heavy rockers Black Spiders have been tearing up stages all over Europe and threatening structural damage wherever they’re gigging. After a hiatus lasting a few years the Spiders are back, a force to be reckoned with.

Following up their eponymous third album, released in 2021, they hit 2023 with a fresh offering, aptly entitled, ‘Can’t Die, Won’t Die’ in mid-May. In a chat prior to their Patriot gig original Spiders Pete ‘Spider’ Spilsby and Adam ‘The Fox’ Irwin chat with MPM’s Gary Spiller and reflect upon how their approach to rock n’ roll has shifted over the years.

Currently in the midst of their first set of dates in 2023 the Spiders are in fine fettle and ‘bedding’ in two new guitarists – J’Evans and D’ron – grateful that this set of dates is a reality and were not consigned to the bin.

Not ones to be dissuaded by adversity Black Spiders hit challenges head-on in their trademark no-nonsense approach. Rolling their sleeves up, to their absolute credit, they’ve pulled off a seemingly insurmountable task and are firing on all cylinders.

‘Can’t Die, Won’t Die’ – available mid-May – can be pre-ordered on black vinyl, glow in the dark splatter vinyl, cd and cassette here –
