Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

Groundbreaking Boston quartet Extreme are back and it’s with something to tip the world off its axis. The opening salvo from forthcoming album ‘Extreme Six’, new single ‘Rise’ is an earthshaking return following
fifteen long years since their last studio release and they’re determined to make up for lost time.

With Nuno Bettencourt’s dirty, driving riff roaring out of the speakers with a frankly indecent haste you know you’re in for something special and the boiling guitar work is matched with tasty melodies and big hooks.

With singer Gary Cerone sounding as fiery as ever as bass player Pat Badger and drummer Kevin Figueiredo lay down the pounding sonic attack, Bettencourt unleashes the mother of all guitar solos, his literally scorching fretwork something that would have made the late, great Eddie Van Halen smile broadly in admiration.

It’s a staggering comeback and one that’ll be blasted out of every rock fan’s
stereo for weeks to come. The Kings of Swing have risen again and life is good.
