Troy Redfern doesn’t do things slowly. Onstage he is an incendiary device setting the stage on fire from the very first minute of his electrifying set to the very last second.
And so it continues with this the second single taken from his forthcoming album Invocation which is due for release next year – an extensive Kickstarter campaign launches imminently (October 30th) to help fund this album.
Produced by Dave Marks and mixed by Jo Webb this is an explosive tune that deals with a problem most of us have to face at some point in our lives, we need to change our life for the better, cut ties with the past and move on. We need to GETAWAY!
The first few notes have a sniff of The Cult’s 1987 classic Lil Devil about them until a combination of the powerful driving rhythm section backed up by a colossal riff quickly drives this tune onwards, Troy at his rockiest yet, the pace leaving you breathless, as the sheer energy of the tune blows you away. Dave Marks on bass and Paul Stewart on drums pouring fuel on the smouldering fire which quickly develops into a raging inferno of slide guitar filled rock and roll.
Troy ‘don’t waste no time’, his vocals a touch of Alice Cooper about them at times in the ears of this reviewer – albeit Alice on an 1800 rpm spin cycle turned up to 90 degrees centigrade – as he belts out the lyrics in his rapid fire vocal style still finding time to deliver one of his breathtaking slide guitar solos midpoint through the three and a half energy packed minutes of this track.
No excuses are needed. Take back control and transform your life. Join Troy as he ‘feels like I could fly … I got my neck out the noose’. Leaving ‘those blues up on the shelf… never running out of juice’ Troy ‘pushes the hammer down’, ‘slips away too soon’ and makes his GETAWAY!
Be sure to make your return swiftly Troy as myself and many other fans cannot wait to hear the full Invocation album when it drops in 2024.
Getaway is released on Wednesday 25th October and is available on all streaming platforms HERE.
