Ireland’s thrashtastic titans Gama Bomb return with their eighth album Bats.

The album’s opening prologue soundscape Under The Pyramids sets up the album’s aesthetic perfectly its short horror soundtrack blends wonderfully into full throttle Egyptian elements, lyrically and musically Egyptron leaves me in no doubt this has to my highlight track as the combo really sets the tone incredibly well.

Short, snappy with a blistering delivery is Living Dead In Beverly Hills also really demonstrates the bands’ ability to inject some fun and the odd chuckle whilst engaging windmill motions, also the subtle hall of the mountain king tease was a nice touch. This is followed by the galloping, bass ringing Rusted Gold

Materialize pretty much blisters through will plenty of shrills and spiralling riffs and when paired with Mask of Anarchy provides the albums most energetic burst.

Stepping on the gas once more to show the second half of the album isn’t going to full of ballads is Don’t Get Your Hair Cut, Dreamstealer has riffs that you find yourself still humming into nostalgia laden Speed Funeral which is another gem just lodged in amongst a collection of stellar examples of well-crafted tracks.

Secular Saw has the most horror filled lyrics and at times has elements of Faith No More embedded, don’t hear it? Just listen to that chorus and don’t let those glorious solos tell you otherwise.

Finally, a title track of sorts – Bats In Your Hair ends what has been a fun, yet furious listening experience and I know I going to screaming ‘There Are Bats in Your Hair’ for ages whilst also remembering the glorious saxophone solo.
