Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

Glaswegian rockers Gun have every right to rest on their laurels, their long career full of triumphs that have seen them release a string of classic albums and, some eyes, blowing the Rolling Stones offstage when they supported Mick’s crew on the 1990 Steel Wheels tour.

This though isn’t their way and as an opening salvo for 2024’s forthcoming ‘Hombres’ album, ‘All Fired Up’ must count as one of their finest hours. Stripping back things to their early years, this rumbunctious rocker features an urgent riff and a huge, hook-filled chorus that’s made for huge crowds to chant.

Add to this a stinging and proper length solo (a rare thing in these days when such things are frowned on by the powers that be) and you’ve got one of the year’s best anthems and this is going to be massive live. Damn, it’s good to have them still kicking up as much dust.

GUN’s current lineup consists of original members Dante Gizzi (vocals) & Giuliano “Jools” Gizzi (guitar) along with Paul McManus (drums), Andy Carr (bass) and Ru Moy (guitar).
