Review by Taf Rock for MPM
Light The Fuse, stand back at a safe distance and watch and listen as the Bristol southern rockers explode into action on this the third single to emerge from their forthcoming new album The Detail Is In The Devil due for release on 23rd February.
Produced and mixed by Josiah Manning at Momentum Studios, Light The Fuse follows up the impressive duo of Time To Fly (voted number 2 in Classic Rock’s Track of the Week public vote) and Turn This Tide.
Opening at a frantic pace with colossal twin guitar riffery supplied by Fred Hale and Andy Muse the band explode into action and immediately grab your attention.
Thundering bass and drums courtesy of Mark Thomas and Steve Byrne set the platform for the arrival of new frontman Russ Grimmett and his towering vocals. The message is delivered – You may be a hard case with ‘that evil eye’ but you’ve pushed me to the limit. The fuse has been lit, now suffer the consequences, I’ve ‘got a missile to cruise’. ‘I wasn’t looking to rumble…but I might just humble you’.
Featuring a sing-a-long chantable chorus this track is sure to become a highlight at future live gigs.
A searing guitar solo maintains the energy levels before a brief respite as the band enquire ‘What you’re drinking…let’s see if we can’t get along … Sit down… No need to sing your swan song’ before ramping things back up ‘move along now brother’ and racing towards the finish line of a terrific 3 minute balls to the wall straight down the line rock song.
A gargantuan release that is energetic, memorable and straight to the point. Push even the littlest, quietest of us too far and the bottle will be uncorked. Just as Sons of Liberty will be on the 23rd February when The Detail Is In The Devil is unleashed on us eager listeners.
The band follow up the release with a ten date tour which commences March 1st at The Patriot in Crumlin, South Wales running through to 23rd March when the band support Reef at the Corporation in Sheffield. Be sure to catch the world’s most popular British Southern Rock Band at one of the dates.
Support on all headline dates will come from The Mike Ross Band. Tickets for the shows available here: www.sonsoflibertyband.com/shows
