Since catching Cobra The Impaler at Bloodstock 2023 I’ve been hooked on them and have been looking forward to this album for quite some time, released via Listenable Records, this is the second album from the hard hitting melodic stoner/thrash band.
Opening with Magnetic Hex the riffs take control and dives straight into a mix of melodic vocals and powerful screams, a catchy chorus and hard hitting drumming delivers a tasty intro to the album. Godless Beyonder takes on a slightly more technical guitar sound but still sticking with the melodic clean vocals, powerful screams and crunchy riffs.
This album is well produced and vocalist Manuel Remmerie does a great job of effortlessly blending his voice along with the masterful axeman Tace DC’s mighty riffage as Season of the Savage proves before taking a short acoustic trip through Eye of the Storm before being smashed in the face with the epic title track Karma Collision.
My Inferno highlights the progressive nature of Cobra the Impaler all while sticking with hard hitting riffs, sick drumming from Ace Mirko Zec and some great breakdowns that’ll definitely open the circle pit when played live. The Fountain brings the speed back to a slower, more stoner rock pace but still giving that epic feel that seems to hold this album together nicely. The Message is incredibly catchy, fast and delivers (the message) everything this band stands for, probably one the stand out tracks on this album.
Finishing off the album is Assassins of The Vision and Shifting Sands, both tracks stick with the overall theme of the album, heavy, powerful and hard hitting with some epic guitar riffs from James Falck and groovy bass from Michele De Feudis.
This album will be a hit with fans of progressive stoner, thrash and metalcore with its mix of epic clean vocals and powerful screams. The artwork has to get a mention too and it’s beautiful and features a goose. It’s a great achievement from the Belgium group to produce this masterpiece that will surely be awesome to hear live.
The band will be playing the ArcTanGent festival in the UK in August and will hopefully be adding more dates soon to support Karma Collision.
