Review by Paul Monkhouse for MPM

The South Coast juggernaut continues its unstoppable journey to superstardom. One of the hardest working bands on the scene, Brave Rival are seemingly never off the road, bringing their irresistible blend of rock, blues and soul to the masses.

The first treat off the much-anticipated sophomore album ‘Fight or Flight’, ‘Five Years On’ is a bold statement that rings with all that’s made discerning music lovers fall head over heels in love with the band. Kicking off with the stuttering riff of Ed Clarke’s guitar and then with a swirl of keys before the delicious harmony vocals of Chloe Josephine and Lindsey Bonnick come powering in, the single is full of a sense of urgency and swagger as they declare the knock-out blow to come.

With its huge, hooky chorus, this is a barn-raising, door kicking sugar rush monster that ensures their beautifully crafted confection will join the rest of their catalogue, seared into the brains and hearts of anyone who hears them. With so much more to come, Brave Rival seem absolutely unbeatable right now. Damn, this feels good.
