Review by Rick Eaglestone for MPM

Candy return with A brazen take on hardcore, metal, disparate electronics, and experimental soundscapes on It’s Inside You.

The band waste absolutely no time as they move straight into violent frenzy setting for bass laden opener eXisTenZ straight into the absolute aural annihilation Short Circuit (Feat. Aaron Melnick) which has me immediately maybe the first listen should not have been at 6AM with no coffee and then is honestly all but confirmed with Ministry infused You Will Never Get Me (Feat. Justice Tripp) There are so many nostalgic nods and soundscapes that it is hard not to have this as might highlight track of the entire release.

The previous track then infuses some serious drum and bass on title track it’s inside you (Feat. David Gagliardi) and although it feels like a bonus track from Slipknot’s debut effort it still holds up on its own before the last track to feature a collaboration Love Like Snow (Feat. MISRY & mmph) has me reaching for the Spawn soundtrack.

Dehumanize Me continues the harsh delivery of its predecessors and demonstrates that four pieces are more that comfortable rolling around in their experimental electoral squalor whereas Faith 91 incorporates more of an OSDM vibe.

It is not difficult to pinpoint the albums most intense past as you need to look no further that the ninety second outpouring Terror Management

The combination of Dreams Less Sweet and Silent Collapse work really well and then there is a straight up shot of invigoration with penultimate track Dancing to the Infinite Back feeling like an octopus has gripped the listener and is pulling them in various directions musically before I am dragged kicking and screaming into my mid 90’s college days with the constant toe tapping Hypercore

For me Candy have delivered something so satisfying sickly with It’s Inside You that I do not think it would disagree with any palette, especially as it is something you will want more than one serving of.
