Review by Rick Eaglestone for MPM

The cold and dreary weather may be coming in, but Blackpool’s Boston Manor have turned the heat up with their newest studio release Sundiver.

Opening with the hypnotic wave of Datura (Dawn)the abundance of atmosphere already wants to slam the door on negativity, prising open the window and letting the light flood in with the anthemic nature of the hard-hitting swirling soundscapes of Container.

A welcome dose of Deftones worship floods through Sliding Doors which has a wonderful blend of vocals and elemental tones that is hard to tear away making this easily the album’s crowning glory.

Moving through to Heat Me Up immediately feels like a future live favourite laden with depth and groove, this is complimented with Horses in a Dream which TBH would be well placed on any commercial radio station as it has lots of catchy soundscapes and its indeed a track that if I heard I would want to turn it up

The incredibly well-placed Drum and Bass instrumental Morning Star is up next and is just so well structured and fits in perfectly with everything before and after, the chilled-out nature is followed up with a swirling, heavier offering in the form of Why I Sleep which is an absolute earworm.

Fornix fires in with a level of intensity and a plethora of huge riffs which weaves into the dominant basslines of Dissolve which is very narrative in structure and delivery.

The acoustic style of What is Taken, Will Never be Lost is melodic and ominous in equal measure, the slower tones also add further dynamics to the album.

Lastly, the album concludes with DC Mini which features the only collaboration of which guests Heriot jump into to create a well-placed Harsher Elements but still surrounded with the overall aesthetic of this latest composition.
