Once in a while a star is born, what is rarer is that not only does that star burn intensely bright but transcends boundaries with the metaphorical key grasped firmly readied to unlock a prosperous future.

One such example is the meteoric rocker n’ roller Des Rocs. New Yorker Danny Rocco’s alter ego Des Rocs has been tearing up the script since releasing the debut EP ‘Let The Vultures In’ just under six years ago.

Invited on board the tour bus, ahead of his Cardiff show, I chat amiably with this quietly assured and reassuringly down to earth gent across a wide range of topics. Together, we dive down the rabbit hole that is inhabited by Des Rocs. From the iconic 50s through to the 21st century via a Reservoir Dogs daubed mid 90s this is the Alice in Wonderland landscape that this American revels within.

From an assembly of furry critters (think about the subject matter of the stompingly good ‘MMC’) right through to getting his teeth stuck into more songwriting once the current tour takes its curtain call what comes across in waves is how grounded an individual Danny is.

Drawing upon what makes him tick as a songwriter and all-round entertainer 15 minutes passes in the blink of an eye. He illuminates upon his broad spectrum of influences and a desire not to be ‘boxed’ by a singular genre label.

We reflect upon his Tarantino-style approach to forging an a truly original dynamic musical persona. Be safe in the knowledge that this is one person loving life and living each and every day to its very fullest.
