John 5’s performance at City Winery in Chicago on September 9, 2024, was nothing short of electrifying. As a former member of such bands as Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and now Motley Crue, the solo show had no make-up, no costumes, just John.
The intimate venue provided the perfect setting for an evening of intricate guitar work and high-energy rock.
From the moment John 5 took the stage, the audience was captivated. His technical prowess was on full display as he seamlessly transitioned between genres, blending rock, metal, and even a touch of country.
One of the highlights of the night was his rendition of “Crank it” where his fingers flew across the fretboard with astonishing speed and precision.
The audience was left in awe of his skill and showmanship. Throughout the evening, John 5’s interaction with the audience added a personal touch to the performance.
He frequently engaged with fans, sharing anecdotes and expressing his gratitude for their support. At one point during the show John donned a custom fur-lined John 5 cowboy hat worn by a woman in the front row. This connection made the concert feel intimate and special, as if he was playing for a group of close friends rather than a packed venue.
The sound quality at City Winery was impeccable, allowing every note and nuance of John 5’s performance to be heard clearly.
The venue’s cozy atmosphere added to the overall experience, making it feel like a private concert for those lucky enough to attend. The City Winery even inspired John to try his first taste of wine and beer.
As the night drew to a close, John 5 treated the audience to a medley of Motley Crue, paying homage to the band. His renditions of the songs were met with enthusiastic cheers, and it was clear that he had won over both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
