Self described as “moody, raw and in your face”, London four-piece Saint Clair have spent the last 12 months honing their sound over a steady stream of releases.
And whilst the band may have flirted with various genres across that time, it seems now, on the cusp of an EP release, the quartet have finally settled on their sound.
Whilst their influences might be as diverse as the likes of Fontaines DC, Elliot Smith and Wunderhorse, forthcoming single ‘Grace’ falls somewhere in between October Drift and Radiohead. Three and a half minutes of heady and hypnotic alt-rock that feels like a real progression in terms of both the band’s drive, and musicality.
“Writing Grace was a love/hate process as we had such a clear vision of how it sounded in our heads – moody and fragile” the band explain. “Grace is a step towards establishing the sound of Saint Clair and allowing the upcoming EP to best represent us”.
Indeed, the first taste of said EP, it feels like a statement of intent from the four-piece, the very tip of an iceberg that promises to be much, much bigger. And though there’s still some time to wait before the full release, ‘Grace’ is more than enough to whet any appetite until then.
