American metalcore pioneers As I Lay Dying have just released their new single “We Are The Dead” from their upcoming full-length studio album, ‘Through Storms Ahead’ which will drop on November 15, 2024 via Napalm Records.
With production by guitarist Phil Sgrosso and Hiram Hernandez, the mixing was created by Aaron Chaparian and mastering by Ted Jensen. The statement album artwork was creatively designed by Corey Meyers.
Thrashly paced singles “Burden” and “The Cave We Fear To Enter” arrived earlier this summer and was the first offering from the quintet for some years, five in fact.
New track “We Are The Dead” is a positively bursting bulge of mouth watering treats and sweet goodies.
It offers a clout to the ears and also includes vocal appearances from Alex Terrible and one of my favorite vocalists, Tom Barber, who holds some wondrous savagery ranges, he’s got tons of aggressive bite too. These fellas definitely help contribute towards the track feeling more lethal and additionally, weighty.
Guitarist Phil Sgrosso mentioned that “‘We Are The Dead’ represents the more brutal territory from their new album, spotlighting thrasher tendencies that the group still enjoy mixing in amongst our more melodic sound.
He also confirmed that this was the meanest they have ever gone in terms of aggression and who better to join them than two of deathcore finest, Alex Terrible of Slaughter to Prevail and Tom Barber from Chelsea Grin.
Shout out to our third-time video collaborator Tom Flynn for jumping in and pulling off another visually creative undertaking for the track.
As I Lay Dying have explored new elements which have elevated their sound and the anticipation for how the new album will play out is exciting. Currently they are also preparing to kick off their massive European tour with supports from from Caliban, Decapitated and Ov Sulfur.
